Nova Scotia’s wind
Nova Scotia’s has a bountiful wind resource and it’s an infinite source of clean power. Former NS Energy Minister, Charlie Parker says, ‘Nova Scotia has one of the best wind regimes in North America. The wind itself is free, and the cost of building wind farms can be spread over many years. The result is a stabilizing effect on electricity rates.’
Wind power is one of the fastest-growing sources of energy in the world. The industry creates new jobs, offsets emissions from fossil fuel-fired power plants and enhances security of electricity supply. It also generates billions of dollars in revenue every year. Canada’s vast landscapes is an endless resource and currently powers 1 million homes. Denmark gets over 20% of their electricity from wind. If we did the same in Canada, we would have wind energy to power 17 million homes.
